Is ChatCut a DaVinci Resolve alternative?

For fast, everyday edits, yes: you describe the video and the agent makes it, with auto captions, voice cleanup, AI cutout and local Claude Code or Codex MCP included on the free desktop app instead of gated behind Resolve Studio. For deep color grading and Fairlight finishing, Resolve is stronger, and you can send a ChatCut timeline to Resolve as XML.

Can I open a ChatCut edit in DaVinci Resolve?

Yes. ChatCut exports an XML timeline that Resolve imports with your cuts in place. Captions, motion graphics and some effects may need to be rebuilt or rendered first.

Where does ChatCut run?

ChatCut Desktop runs on macOS 13 or newer and Windows 10 or newer, and the web app runs in a desktop browser at app.chatcut.io. There is no native phone app, and Linux is not supported.
